501 - Micado

  • Buildings
Built on the site of a former detached villa, this urban densification project comprises a residential building with 16 apartments, two of which have been combined to house Atelier 78.

The building's massing follows the geometry of the building perimeter. A monumental stairwell, naturally lit by a skylight, has been created as the symbol of the building, to guarantee maximum floor space and avoid an overflow of blind areas in the center of the building.

All apartments occupy a corner position and are bi-oriented. The program is completed by a generous loggia acting as an additional living area.

The built environment prompted the architect to use a wood appearance to echo the predominant material of the neighborhood, marked by the heads of horizontal prefabricated concrete slabs.
